Sweet Scones

These sweet scones are simple & delicious with a cup of morning coffee
or anytime snack.

This recipe comes from a Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook.

1 cup all-purpose flour
2 T. sugar
1-1/2 tsps. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened but not melted
1 beaten egg
1/3 cup plain yogurt or sour cream
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon

1. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder & salt.
2. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender until mixture is in coarse crumbs.
3. In a separate bowl, combine the yogurt or sour cream & egg.
4. Make a well in the dry ingredients & immediately place the yogurt/egg mixture into the well. Stir until just moistened.
5. Place dough on floured surface & work together until fully combined. Knead gently for 8 to 10 strokes.
6. Shape into a 6 inch round & cut into 6 wedges.
7. Place on an ungreased baking sheet.
8. Combine cinnamon & sugar, and sprinkle over scone wedges.
9. Bake in a 425 degree oven for 11 - 13 minutes. Watch closely.
10. Cool on rack for 5 minutes. Serve warm.
