Muddy Buddies

Print This Page

This classic muddy buddies recipe
combines some of my favorite tastes --
chocolate, peanut butter & butter. Oh my!

I can't believe I'd never tasted this recipe until I was an adult --
and an old one to boot. I made this for my son-in-law,
because it's one of his favorites.

Thank you Jon & of course, Chex, for inventing this mixture
of yummy goodness :)

muddy buddies

9 cups Chex cereals (corn, rice and/or wheat)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (I use milk chocolate chips)
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar

1. Pour cereal into a large bowl and set aside.

2. Combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter in 1 quart microwave bowl. Microwave on high for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or until smooth (stir after 1 minute).

3. When above mixture is melted; add vanilla.

4. Pour chocolate mixture over cereal and stir until all pieces are evenly coated.

5. Pour cereal mixture into large container (with seal -- I use Ziploc plastic bags). Sprinkle in powdered sugar. Seal securely & shake until all pieces are well coated with powdered sugar.

6. Spread on wax paper to cool.

Store in airtight container.
Makes 9 cups.
