De-clutter your kitchen drawers!

Having tidy kitchen drawers is completely do-able -- and it can be done in several 10-minute windows of time.
This way it's manageable :)

Here is the organizational pattern to de-clutter your kitchen drawers... and your whole house, for that matter:

Take everything out -- one or two drawers at a time,
Throw everything away that is old or ruined -- broken pens, pencils, twisted-up paper clips, out-of-date coupons, etc.

You get the idea -- get rid of the excess baggage! It is so easy to stay organized when you have less stuff.

1. Wipe the drawers clean before returning items -- you may want to line them with contact paper or grip pads.

2. Organize similar items together.

Use small glass jars for storage and drawer organization.

Artichoke heart jars, caper or olive jars can house rubber bands, safety pins, paper clips, twist ties, or stray nails.

You may consider having a kitchen drawer with a small hammer, screwdriver and a nail set for easy fix-it jobs. Better yet, buy one of those cute ladies toolboxes and store under your kitchen sink or in the pantry.

3. Use plastic or wood dividers in kitchen drawers to separate items:
Silverware, everyday utensils and items.
Keep food storage clips in divider section for easy access too.

4. Keep a big utensil holder on the counter. No one wants to go fishing for utensils in a messy drawer. Get a cute ceramic container to hold your most popular utensils for everyday use -- keep the rest nearby in a drawer.

5. Store pens, pencils and scissors on the top of your desk area in a holder or in a drawer divider.
Try to have a phone close by too.
Keep notepads in neighboring drawer and post a "Things to do" list nearby.
Post your grocery list on the refrigerator and add items as needed

6. Buy an electric pencil sharpener and keep on top of the desk in the kitchen or near the kitchen. Kids can sharpen pencils easily and the sharpener doesn't walk away :)

7. Store important notices and paperwork in a cute basket or bin. Keep it close by so it can be dealt with. Simple Mail Management

ADDITIONAL DESK & KITCHEN OFFICE ORGANIZATION:

1. I like to keep a good-sized bulletin board in the kitchen -- this reminds me of all sorts of important things:

Frequently used phone numbers:
The kids' school
Dr., Dentist and/or Orthodontist
Church
Dance class
Public utility numbers
Cable company
Emergency numbers
Pizza delivery (now that's a must!)

Post these numbers on the bulletin board so you don't have to go hunting for a phone number all the time.
Huge time saver!

Post your kids' school calendar and schedule of events on this bulletin board

Post your family calendar nearby with other commitments on it.
Home organization explains the family calendar in more detail.
Post Bills or notices that require action.

2. Keep all your local and area phone books in a nearby cupboard.

If you don't have a kitchen cupboard available, get a nice woven or wire basket and store them on the floor near the phone. If you get wire, be sure to put something underneath it, so it doesn't scratch your floor. Having phone books close saves oodles of time! :)

Either in the same cupboard or another if needed, store your cookbooks. Place them so you can see the binding with the cookbook's name.

Well, I think that should get you started and keep your kitchen drawers from over-flowing!

You'll find great organizational products in my store.
