When you learn how to make buttermilk, you will never have to buy ready-made buttermilk again. And, homemade will save you money!
Since we moved to the Philippines 10 years ago, and found that buttermilk was not sold here; I simply made peace with that reality. I mean, what could I do about it, right? It hadn't even occurred to me that I could make it easily. I thought it would certainly be a hard process, so we did without.
Now folks, I consider myself to be more than a novice cook, and I thought that was truth.
I was so wrong!! :) I don't know how I missed this easy method of making buttermilk.
We don't drink buttermilk, so I can't promise this will make yummy buttermilk for drinking, but it makes perfectly wonderful buttermilk for cooking & baking. And, it's so much less expensive than store-bought. You probably have all the ingredients in your fridge & pantry right now.
Milk & white vinegar. That's it! :)

Directions: To every 1 cup of regular milk (1% or 2%), add 1 Tablespoon of regular white vinegar. Let it sit for 10 minutes before using. It will bubble & do its magic right before your eyes :) So simple, right?!
