Homemade Dinner Rolls

Print This Page

My mother-in-law is an expert baker, and she makes these
homemade dinner rolls for every holiday celebration.
They are magnanimous!

1 cup milk (scalded; heated to 180 - 185 degrees)
Watch the milk while heating, so it doesn't burn.
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
3 eggs
4 cups flour
1 cake or 1 pkg. yeast = 2-1/4 tsp. yeast

1. Add sugar and butter to scalded milk.
2. Cool; add eggs and softened yeast (the yeast in 1/4 cup warm water).
3. Add flour gradually until it clears the side of bowl.
4. Let rise until double.
5. Knead down; divide into 4 parts; flatten each part into rounds and cut into 8 pie shaped pieces.
6. Roll each piece into crescent shape.
7. Bake for 12 minutes at 350 degrees.

Makes 32 rolls.
