Granola Bar Recipe

Print This Page

This granola bar recipe is a great alternative to other sweet treats,
and even store-bought granola bars. By making granola bars at home,
you ensure only healthy ingredients are added.

The beauty of home cooking. :)

These granola bars are among the available recipes within the recipe software I use. I really love this software. Check it out to organize your recipes, find new recipes, create menus & shopping lists. It's the best!
Big Oven Recipe Software

This recipe makes 24 granola bars: I make half this amount.

2 cups rolled oats
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup wheat germ
3/4 tsp. cinnamon; and/or pumpkin pie spice
1 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 cup raisins; or any other dried fruit.
1/2 cup honey
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tsp. vanilla
Can add almonds, coconut, or sunflower seeds if you like; whatever suits your tastes.

1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Line an 11x14 inch jelly roll pan with parchment. Half recipe fits nicely in an 8x8 or 9x9 inch square pan.
2. In a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients, including the raisins.
3. Pour in the honey, egg, oil & vanilla.
4. Mix well with your hands. Pat mixture into prepared pan.
5. Pre-cut the bars before baking.
6. Bake for 30 - 35 minutes until bars are golden on edges. Cool for a few minutes & cut again on pre-cut lines.
Side note: For softer granola bars; use a 9x13 inch pan & bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
