Gingersnap Cookies

Gingersnap cookies are loaded with rich spices, and season the air with Christmas goodness.
The tantalizing aroma during baking is the preamble to these delicious gingersnap cookies.
Is that description a little sappy? :)
You know how the smell of something good can give you a warm & comfy feeling?! That's what happens when these gingersnap cookies are baking. :) So nice!
I hope you & your family enjoy these. The recipe came from my mom.

1 cup sugar
3/4 cup butter
4 T. molasses
1 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. cloves
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 unbeaten egg

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. With hand mixer, blend sugar, butter, and molasses.
3. In another bowl, sift together ground ginger, cloves, flour, baking soda & cinnamon until well blended.
4. With hand mixer, blend dry ingredients into wet ingredients.
5. Stir in unbeaten egg.
6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls; dip in white sugar.
7. Bake for about 8 minutes and shake pan, so cookies fall. Bake an additional 2 - 4 minutes.

Watch the baking closely the first time you make these, because it may take less time to bake since all ovens are a bit different.

Enjoy!
