1 pkg. yeast = 2 1/4 tsp. 3 T. water 1/2 cup Crisco 1 tsp. salt 1 cup boiling water 2 eggs 1/2 sugar 4 cups all-purpose flour, approximately.
To do the night before: 1. Place Crisco and salt in glass measuring cup. 2. Add the 1 cup boiling water. 3. Stir together until dissolved and lukewarm -- temperature between 105 - 110 degrees. 4. Dissolve yeast in warm water. 5. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until well combined. 6. Add the Crisco/yeast mixture to the sugar/egg mixture. Combine. 7. Add 2 cups flour; mix well. Add remaining flour & mix well. Add enough extra flour to make a kneadable dough, and knead until well mixed.
At this point, place in a covered bowl, and refrigerate overnight. You can also just continue on with the recipe without refrigeration.
8. Cut the dough in half. Roll into 2 rounds, 1/4 inch thick. 9. Spread with softened butter; cut into pie shapes and roll into crescents. 10. Place on lightly greased baking sheet and let rise until double in size. 11. Bake in 375 degree oven for 8 - 10 minutes.
