Chocolate Crinkles

Print This Page

I hadn't tasted chocolate crinkles until I was an adult,
and an old one at that :)

What's up with that? Did I live in a cave or something?!
These chocolate crinkles are so soft & chewy; perfect with a tall glass of cold milk. Yum! :)

This chocolate crinkle recipe is a Nestle Toll House recipe & makes about 3 dozen cookies.
Enjoy!

2 cups Nestle Toll House semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup white sugar
2 T. butter, softened
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 egg whites
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup powdered sugar

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Melt 1 cup chocolate chips in small, heavy-duty saucepan over low heat. Stir constantly until smooth. Remove from heat & cool to room temperature.
3. Sift flour, baking powder & salt in small bowl.
4. In a larger bowl, beat sugar, butter & vanilla.
5. Beat in melted chocolate; beat in egg whites.
6. Gradually beat in flour mixture alternately with water.
7. Stir in remaining 1 cup of chocolate chips. Cover & chill until firm.
8. Shape dough into 1 1/2-inch balls; roll in powdered sugar to coat generously. Place on greased cookie sheet.
9. Bake for 10 - 15 minutes or until sides are set, but centers are still slightly soft. Let stand for 2 minutes before removing from cookie sheet to wire rack to cool.
