Chocolate Chip Brownies

Nestle's Double Chocolate Chip Brownies made with applesauce
is easy & delicious.
Enjoy!

2 cups (12 oz. pkg.) Nestle Toll House semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 T. butter
3 egg whites
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 cup chopped nuts, optional

1. In a large, heavy-duty saucepan, heat 1 cup chocolate chips, sugar, applesauce, & butter over low heat; stir until smooth. Remove from heat & cool slightly.
2. Stir in egg whites.
3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda & salt.
4. Stir flour mixture into chocolate mixture; combine well. Stir in vanilla extract.
5. Stir in remaining chocolate chips & nuts, if desired.
6. Spread into greased 9 x 13 inch pan.
7. Bake in 350 degree oven for 16 - 20 minutes or just until set. Cool completely in pan.
