Chewy Chocolate Chip Bars

Print This Page

These chewy chocolate chip bars are full of tasty goodness.
Chocolate chips smothered in sweetened condensed milk
makes them extra chewy.
Cut them small, because they are wonderfully rich.

1 1/2 cups unsifted flour
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup cold butter
1 (12 oz. pkg.) semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk, NOT evaporated milk
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup chopped nuts

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. In medium bowl, combine flour and sugar; cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in 1/2 cup of the chocolate chips & press in a 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake 15 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, combine sweetened condensed milk, egg & vanilla; stir in remaining 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips and nuts.
4. Spread evenly over prepared crust. Bake 20 - 25 minutes or until lightly brown. Cool completely in pan.
