Chapati Recipe

Whole Wheat Chapati Recipe: Healthy & Delicious!

We can't buy tortillas in the Philippines, so we need to make homemade chapatis for enchiladas, fajitas or soft tacos.
They are a bit labor intensive, but are so soft and delicious.

My kids spread these with peanut butter & add raisins,
and roll up for a great snack.

This recipe came from a world community cookbook called,
Extending the Table.

chapati

moo shu chicken

Here it's wrapped around Moo Shu Chicken. Looks delicious, doesn't it? :)

Combine:
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tsp. butter, melted
pinch of salt

Gradually add:
1/2 cup (or more) lukewarm water

1. Knead until dough is soft.
2. Cover with damp cloth and let rest for an hour.
3. Divide dough into 10 pieces.
4. On floured surface, roll each piece into 4 inch circle, 1/4 inch thick.
5. Heat heavy ungreased fry pan -- I use an omelette pan.
6. Cook each chapati until it starts to bubble on bottom; turn and heat on other side.
7. Stack in a tea towel to keep warm.
