Caramel Brownie Recipe

Print This Page

What a yummy combination: Caramel & Brownie!
Together they make the best caramel brownie recipe.

This recipe came from an old family cookbook, and I come from a long line of great cooks. And we all have the rumble seat to prove it!
Is that bad to say? :)

I hope you enjoy them!

50 caramels, unwrapped
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1 pkg. German chocolate cake
3/4 cup melted butter
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup chocolate chips

1. Melt caramels in 1/3 cup of evaporated milk.
2. In separate bowl, combine the cake mix & remainder of evaporated milk, butter & nuts.
3. Grease 9 x 13 inch pan, and spread 1/2 of batter in pan.
4. Bake for 6 minutes at 350 degrees.
5. Remove from oven & sprinkle with the chocolate chips; then spread caramel sauce over chips.
6. Spread remaining batter over chips & caramel sauce & bake for an additional 15 - 18 minutes.
7. Cool thoroughly & refrigerate 30 minutes before cutting.
