Beef Stroganoff Recipe

When cooking for 2, you want some yummy down home basics. This beef stroganoff recipe really hits the nail on the head.
It's from a Better Homes and Gardens cookbook.
Serves 2. 8 oz. boneless beef sirloin steak 1/2 cup sour cream 1 T. all-purpose flour 1 T. tomato paste 2 tsp. Dijon-style mustard 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp. instant beef bouillon granules 1/2 tsp. caraway seeds 1 small onion, sliced and separated into rings 1 cup sliced fresh or canned mushrooms 1 clove garlic, minced 1/2 T. butter 1/2 T. olive oil 3 cups hot cooked noodles
1. Trim all visible fat from the beef. Slice the beef into thin strips; against the grain. Always cut meat against the grain for tenderness.
2. In a small bowl, mix sour cream, flour, tomato paste, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, bouillon granules, caraway seeds and 1/3 cup water. Whisk together & set aside.
3. In a large skillet, melt butter & oil; add beef and saute briefly. Add the mushrooms & onions & cook until the beef and vegetables are to desired doneness. Skim off any cooking scum that develops from the beef. Very slightly season beef & vegetables with salt & pepper.
4. Add the sauce to the meat mixture and cook until heated through and thickened.
5. Serve over hot noodles.
Add crusty bread and a fresh salad, or steamed veggies to complete this meal.
