Baked Ziti Recipe

Print This Page

This baked ziti recipe is a South Beach recipe
& I found it through using my favorite recipe software.

Anytime you combine pasta & cheese, you have a winner!
A kid's favorite!

Serving Size: 4
8 oz. whole wheat ziti -- or use regular ziti.
8 oz. lean ground beef, or ground chicken or turkey.
1 cup shredded reduced-fat mozzarella cheese, plus extra for topping.
1 cup part-skim ricotta cheese
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped or 2 tsp. dried parsley
2 - 3 cups of your favorite jarred spaghetti sauce
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1/8 tsp. to 1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes
Parmesan cheese, grated

1. Cook pasta according to directions. Drain.
2. Brown ground beef or other ground meat until cooked; crumble. Drain. Season with garlic powder, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and salt to taste.
3. Combine pasta, beef, mozzarella, ricotta, parsley, and 2 cups sauce; add more sauce if needed. Mix well.
4. Spread in an 8-inch square baking pan; bake for 15 minutes in 375 degree oven. Top with Parmesan cheese and extra mozzarella cheese; continue baking for 10 - 15 minutes more until heated through & bubbly.

Serve with crusty bread & green salad.
